My weekend project.
This weekend I decided to replace the keyboard on my original Macbook (black) that had been slowly chipping away at the sides.
It has been awhile since I got the chance to be a nerd so I this weekend I decided to treat myself.
I had an issue with my first generation Macbook that Apple has verified is a KNOWN defect with this model.
I’m out of warrant so I didn’t expect for the machine to be replaced however I did expect to be at least given a quote on a service that they offer.
Not one but two stores gave me the run around about my questions.
I found the replacement for the part online a year ago by using iFixit.com which is a website dedicated to Apple computers.
All I needed to know from the Apple store was how much would it cost to replace my keyboard for my Macbook.
If they couldn’t tell me how much then do they have any companies that they could have recommend for repair.
I was told that I needed to make an appointment to even speak with a “genius” even though they were less then ten feet in front of me doing nothing.
In one of the stores I told the lady that I wasn’t going anywhere until a “genius” came to talk to me.
He ended up being no help at all and couldn’t even answer my BASIC QUESTIONS.
At this point I was pretty much fed up so I decided to do it on my own.
I recorded parts of the project and they’re below:
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
