Don’t forget that money is a tool.

A few years ago I was speaking with one of my mentors about my ability to save money so that I could invest and “play” with it.

I was scolded and told that I should never “play” with money because money is to be used only as a tool and nothing more.

The value of money was nothing more than what I placed in it and never to allow money to control nor cloud my judgement.

What he told me makes more sense to me now more than it ever has before due to what I’m currently going through in my life.

When I look back on our conversation I understand that he was telling me that money is to be used to create more time.

Granted there are only 24 hours in a day for every person however having the ability to do what I wish with my time because I have the resources will allow me to “create” more time for myself.

Not being on anyone else schedule or time frees up at least 10 hours of the day (8 hour work day, hour commute driving and 1 hour of thinking about the job) at the least.

Working a 8 hour per day job for money is the exact opposite of what I should be using money for.

Actually in this instance money is using me as a tool.

One of my goals for the accumulation of wealth is to have the ability to have my money work for me through gaining interest, freeing up time or providing a better way for someone that I come in direct contact with.

I was told this message two or three years ago but it wasn’t until recently that I actually saw a way to apply this lesson to my life.
