I’ve never been big on cars.

Back in 2003 I saw the very first car that I was not only impressed with but also knew I had to own.

I didn’t know how nor did I know when but I knew eventually I would have what most would consider my dream car.

On June 1st, 2007 I ended up getting the exact car that I saw four years ago.

The story about how I got the car is pretty interesting.

About two months ago the transmission in my Camry died on me while I was on the turnpike.

Not too big of a deal considering the car was fairly old.

I figured that I would just buy a new transmission and be done with it.

Wrong.

It took damn near two months to get the car fixed so the phrase “pain in the ass” really doesn’t sum up my frustration with what I was going through with my Camry.

So while my car was f.u.b.a.r. I was shopping for a specific type of car.

Money really wasn’t that much of an issue but I didn’t want to get anything that was living beyond my means.

I narrowed my decision down to three cars, all which were in my hometown.

Did I mention that my “dream car” was a Nissan Murano?

Anyway I checked out the cars early saturday morning and found a very clean 2005, fully loaded, pearl white vehicle with only 30k miles on it.

The price was a bit much but nothing that couldn’t be brought down.

I also found a second car which was literally right down the street.

It was pretty much the same car as the first but it had one thousand more miles and wasn’t fully loaded.

The price was cheaper but after seeing the first car fully loaded the price really wasn’t that big of a factor considering how much more I got with the fully loaded model.

Mission accomplished on finding and inspecting my possible vehicles.

Monday comes around and I head to the first dealership with the fully loaded model.

I had the price set in my mind and I go in and tell the guy that I don’t have time to waste by playing games.

He came with a price that I actually laughed at and I told him what I was willing to pay for the vehicle.

He left and “went to talk to his boss” and came back and said that we could ok the deal as if he were doing my a favor.

I probably could have gotten the car for less but I didn’t want to dick around with this man anymore.

So I leave and head to a different branch of my credit union that I normally go to.

I explain to the guy about the vehicle and everything else so that he could get the paper work started.

Everything was running smooth until this guy starts telling me how much the payments were going to be.

Now I normally do homework on most things and damn near everything when it comes to money.

I had already spoke with two different people at my credit union regarding my payments so I had an idea of how much I should have been charged.

The guy (who to me was and still is a dickhead) wouldn’t budge.

He pretty much ruined what natural high I had going at the time.

It wasn’t too big of a deal because I felt as though most things happen for a reason, so if the payments weren’t what I wanted then no problem (at least not in the long run).

I headed to the second dealership with the less loaded, cheaper car and start the process all over again.

To be continued, I have to return to work.
